The
Atmosphere:
Situated in downtown on Church Street—and owned by the
same management as next-door-neighbor Chiller's—Antigua
strives for a sophisticated nightlife experience in an area
known more for touristy bars. The club is fashioned with a
resort theme throughout and includes a second-story
"Antigua Resort & Club" facade that wouldn't
look out of place at one of EPCOT's lesser pavilions. In
fact, the overall effect is very Disney-esque, but not
exactly posh or high-end.
The Draw:
Fluffy trance played on a
recent visit, providing the perfect soundtrack for a
late-night hookup (which seems to be what most folks were
here for anyway). There's a large main bar and three
satellite boozing areas, so lines shouldn't be too much of a
problem. The tropical fish tank located on the main dance
floor seems to be Antigua's signature visual element.
However, you might walk right past it as you've probably
seen bigger tanks in your dentist's waiting room. Tables and
chairs line the perimeter of the club, including a separate
section of booths.
